with disease. Actual fund raising takes place before the event as Relay teams’ members solicit sponsors for themselves and their teams and through other activities such as bake sales and yard sales.
Last year the Rappahannock County Relay raised $63,776 and was the seventh highest fundraiser in the nation among counties of its size. This represented a 10 percent increase from the funds raised the previous year, the first year the Relay was held in the County. This is a trend that the organizers of this year’s Relay would like to continue.
