at Blue Moon
Award-winning songwriter and recording artist “Stevie Guitar” Sparks will be hosting Open Mic Night at Sperryville’s Blue Moon Cafe this spring.
The D.C. area native is a 35 year veteran of the music business. Sparks has played with such musical icons as Boz Skaggs, Ramblin’ Jack Elliot, Ian Tyson, Buddy Miles and Jimmy Messina.
Now residing in Centreville, he’s been a fixture for years in the music scene of Maui, Hawaii, where he recorded his last CD - “Flight Of The Magic Tortoise”, with an eight-piece band. Junior Cotillions
The National League of Junior Cotillions, Culpeper Chapter has honored student volunteers who have served as assistants for the 2000-01 season.
Assistant volunteers are chosen from a select group that has met guidelines which include: maintaining honor roll status at their schools, interest in community service and leadership roles in their schools, churches and social organizations.
Lauren Thornhill, a parttime student at Rappahannock County High School and a part-time homeschooler was recently honored.
Miss Thornhill, an honor student, has received several academic awards and is very involved in 4-H Clubs, Pony Club and enjoys horseback riding. For more information call 937-8959.
