It is difficult to understand how Mr.
Lee Bird, could make so many factual errors, and overlook other facts in his opinion piece of Feb. 7.
For example, the media announced A1 Gore winning Florida before the polls closed in the central time zone of Florida’s panhandle. The call was reversed only after the panhandle polls closed.
His so-called “incompetent” voting machines were not only in poor districts, but in several others as well. According to contemporary news reports however, the heavily Democrat counties polling places, staffed entirely by Democrats, seemed to have more trouble than the others. Or was it that the canvassing boards, also largely Democrat staffed in these counties, were expected to be better able to see an A1 Gore dimple.
