Sara Thomas, RCHS senior, and Derrick Hiserman, RCHS sophomore, will star in “Anniversary”, a one-act play about relationships, by Conrad Bishop, at The Theatre in Washington, Friday, Feb. 16 at 7:30 p.m. Both actors performed in the play, “The Birds”, last year at the high school.
An all-female a capella group called, “Singing Two Lips” will entertain before the movie “Wonder Boys” with two songs, “Only You” and “Ho Ta Rukoi.”
Members of the group are: Jamie Deal, in chorus and cheerleading for three years and tried to sing like Maria Carey when she was little; Melanie Torrance, who says she has been singing and dancing on table tops since she was four and has been in chorus since fifth grade; Robin Oyster, involved in ballet, hip-hop and jazz and has bqpn in chorus for five years; Bobbie Jo Brown has been in chorus most of her life and in her spare time writes poetry, rap lyrics and plays basketball; Samantha Breeden, a senior at RCHS, selected to attend the Virginia Honors Choir, the District Choir and the All-State Choir, the first to attend the AllState Choir ever from this county; and Ruth Ann Oyster enjoys singing, acting, writing poetry and playing her guitar as well as taking ballet and hip-hop classes.
Miranda Hope, a first year teacher at RCHS, directs both groups. She teaches chorus and drama at the high school, chorus at the elementary school and English literature and guitar at Hearthstone.
Ms. Hope has a BA in Literature from Stanford University and an MFA in drama from Columbia University.
