Dodson died Feb. 9 as a result of a hit and run accident in Cobb County, Ga., while attending a builders conference with his employers, Bill Smithers and Coe Eldridge and other co-workers from Purcellville.
He was the son of Ronald and Ann Dodson of Viewtown and father to his four year son, Evan William Dodson.
Other survivors include his sister, Tammy C. Russell and her husband Milton and children Kerry and Nick Compton; two brothers, Neil W. Dodson and fiance, Claudia Beilis of Falls Church and Chris Dodson and fiance, Tina Bally and children Alexus and Carli; his soon-to-be wife, Andrea McKenzie; Evan’s mother, Olivia Thompson Dodson of Ruckersville; his maternal grandparents, Harold and Ruth Sullivan of Ruckersville and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was predeceased by two uncles, Clarence (Boosie) Dodson and Lawrence Wayland and paternal grandparents, Eugene and Dorothy Dodson.
Mr. Dodson was bom Nov. 9, 1968 and was a 1987 graduate of Rappahannock County School and attended George Mason University in Fairfax from 1987 to 1988.
He enlisted in the Marine Corps Reserves in 1988, graduated at the top of his class as “Honor Man.” Sgt. Dodson was called to active duty to participate in Operation Desert Storm during the Persian Gulf War.
Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, Feb. 13. Burial was at Culpeper National Cemetery.
