At the end of two innings it was a tie game 4 to 4.
The pitching and defense couldn’t hold in the third and the Cougars scored 7 runs before Kirk Davis relieved Wharton. The Panthers added two more runs in the 5th by ended up losing 16 to 6.
Softball
The varsity softball team had the same result at Manassas Park as their baseball counterparts. They did play very well and gained some much-needed experience against the reigning state champion.
Sophomore Rachel Sharp pitched very well as the Cougars were held to only four hits for the game. Scoreless after four innings, an infield error on a tough ball to handle gave the Lady Cougars the only runs they needed in the fifth inning.
