Committee reports
Franklin Warner of the Policy and Legal Committee referred the Board to VSBA prompted revisions in policies pertaining to: small purchases; tobacco-free school for staff and students; notification of learning objectives; school day and school year; correspondence and alternative means of instruction; graduation and academic requirements; and tobacco use on school premises. The Board will discuss and act upon these revisions at their May meeting. Mr. Warner also noted that the committee was asked to investigate the possibility of changing leave policies, and a questionnaire was circulated to obtain staff preferences. He said that, as a result of responses, no change was recommended since policies are in effect that correctly reflect staff desires, but committee member Rose Ann Sharp disagreed, and asked that the committee definitively determine that the policies exist before making final recommendations.
