Tasting room now open
Sharp Rock Vineyard’s Tasting Room has reopened for the season. Hours are Friday from 1 to 5 p.m., Saturday from noon to 5 p.m., Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. and also by appointment, 9879700.
Ragged Mountain activities
April activities scheduled at Ragged Mountain Resource Center include:
* Wednesday, April 11: Intensive hike/run on Buck Hollow and Buck Ridge Trail Loop. Meet at Ragged Mountain Headquarters by 3:30, Mountainside Market by 3:45 or trailhead post along US 211 by 4 p.m. Counterclockwise loop planned (up Buck Hollow, down Buck Ridge). A vigorous workout, not a social hike.
* Saturday, April 14: Second Saturday Hike Series. Trail maintenance and clearing on “Saddle Ridge” Trail to “White Rocks” Trail. Explore Hazel River bluffs and burned park areas. Meet at Mountainside Market, west of Sperryville, 987-9100 by 8:30 a m. or Ragged Mountain Headquarters across the road at Oldway Art Center by 9 a.m. Bring hiking / working clothes, especially work gloves, and nourishment for self, especially water. Back late afternoon. Pizza at Mountainside and music at Blue Moon Cafe options afterwards.
* Wednesday, April 18: Intensive Hike-Run up Sam's Ridge Trail and down Hazel River Trail. Meet at Ragged Mountain Headquarters by 3:45 or Hazel River bridge by Hungry Horse Lane by 4 p.m. Very strenuous clockwise start and strong downhill runs in the middle.

uDog Day Afternoon ”planned
Rappahannock Animal Welfare League (RAWL) presents the first “Dog Day Afternoon" Saturday June 2nd (rain date Sunday June 3rd) from 12 to 5 p.m. at Windsor Lodge Farm in Flint Hill. Admission $5 (children 12 and under free).
“Join us for a family fun day featuring doggie demos and contests: Terrier Races, “Tongue in Cheek” Dog Show, Agility Fun Runs, Working Dog Demos and more! Come meet the RAWL dogs available for adoption. We look forward to seeing you with your well behaved dog on a leash," said an organizer.
