Esther Cora Dodson Rutherford, 91, of Castleton died Wednesday, April 4 at Warrenton Overlook Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born Nov. 5, 1909 in Sperryville to the late Clarence Louis Dodson and Safronia Frye Dodson.
Mrs. Rutherford was a member of New Hope Bible Baptist Church in Sperryville.
Survivors include two daughters, Esther Rebecca Starner of Woodbridge and Betty Lou Bruce of Luray and six sons, Bobby Rutherford, Jackie Rutherford, Donald Rutherford and Glynn Rutherford, all of Rixeyville, Roger Rutherford of Springfield, and Joseph Rutherford of Culpeper.
Additional survivors include a brother, Bradley Dodson of Flint Hill; 17 grandchildren and 17 greatgrandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 69 years, Harry Jackson Rutherford; two sister, Carrie Dodson and Emma Safronia Valliere and one grandchild, Tommy Starner.
Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, April 7 at Found & Sons Chapel with Pastor Carl Menefee officiating.
Interment followed in Amissville United Methodist Church Cemetery.
