Newspaper and broadcast executive Arthur (Nick) Arundel was inducted last week into the Virginia Communications Hall of Fame.
Arundel was cited for his pioneering role in creating the nation’s first all news broadcasting station in Washington, WAVA, which in 1960 became the early predecessor to such continuous news operations as today’s CNN and others now worldwide. He was also recognized for founding and building ArCom, one of Virginia’s largest and most successful newspaper companies which now publishes 17 newspapers.
