Frank Wright, an artist who has made a special study of Washington, D.C., during the Civil War, will speak to the Blue Ridge Civil War Round Table next Tuesday, April 17, at 7:30 p.m. at the Old Sperryville Bookshop.
A professor of fine arts at George Washington University, Mr. Wright will discuss how the Civil War affected Washington, D.C., and will show slides of his many paintings of nation’s capital during the war years, 1861-65.
His paintings are large panoramas that show how the city looked in those years, illustrating the impact of large populations of military men who occupied the national capital during that period.
