We know Easter eggs are an important part of the Easter tradition.
Eggs represent new life and was included in the Passover meal. This was served at the Baptist Church in Jerusalem every year, along with matzo (unleavened bread), fruit of the vine (cup of grapes)t bitter herbs (parsley dipped in salty water), and apples blended represented the bricks made in Egypt by the servants.
Like so many things, we pick up part of the tradition, so the egg hunts became popular for all the youngsters.
We were very scarce with our eggs because they were sold for extra income all year, but when Easter morning came we were allowed to have eggs prepared any way we wanted and as many as we wanted.
