Mrs. Kathryn “Kitty” Gaines, 82, of Rappahannock died Monday, May 14 at her home.
She was bom Oct. 7, 1918 in Rappahannock County to the late John Hitt and Esther Hitt.
Mrs. Gaines worked for over 20 years at Evans Farm Inn in McLean before becoming proprietor of Wits End in Ben Venue. She was known locally for her painting.
She is survived by her husband, John LeRoy Gaines of Front Royal; two children, Ludlow Gaines and his wife, Valerie of Leesburg and David Gaines and his wife, Lori, both of Harpers Ferry, W.Va.
Additional survivors include a sister, Hilda Gibson of Amissville; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Memorial services were conducted on Monday, May 21 at Found and Sons Chapel with Rev. Marvin C. Cook officiating.
