Well, it’s over! The 2001 regular season is history. Now come the District Tournaments and the hopes of Virginia high school athletes everywhere, as teams play ‘til they lose’ and dream of winning that coveted “State Championship.”
As the Bull Run District regular season ended this past week, there were some highlights that kept things exciting. Not the least of these was the first victory for the varsity baseball team this season - a 5-2 win over fourth place George Mason High School here at home.
However, the real excitement this week wasn’t generated by an RCHS team at all. Instead it was the performance of the young, freshman track athlete, Ryisha Cook, that captured the attention of so many at the Bull Run District Track Championships held this past Wednesday. Her sport captures center stage this week as the track athletes have already completed their District Tournament and prepare to go on to Regional competition.
