Surviving are his,wife of 48 years. Pearl Ethel ^Woodard Smoot; two sons, Jerry Wayne Smoot of Chester Gap and Michael Ray Smoot of Amissville; two brothers, James Smoot of Front Royal and Carl Smoot of Winchester; three sisters, Helen Smoot of Washington, Anna Clatterbuck of Washington. Reba Woodard of Sperryville and four grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, May 19 at Turner-Robertshaw Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Burke officiating.

Charles Elbert Stinson, 76, of Front Royal died Monday, May 14 at Winchester Medical Center.
Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday, May 16 at Marlow Heights Baptist Church by Dr. Randy Orndorff. Burial was in Panorama Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Stinson was born Nov. 5, 1924, in Strasburg, son of the late John William and Mamie Geraldine Robinson Stinson.
He was a retired engineer with Avtex in Front Royal and a security guard for SECTEC. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
Surviving are his wife, Evelyn Metz Stinson; a son, Bruce Hite of Front Royal; three daughters, Dannette Pullen of Flint Hill, April Stubbs of Front Royal and JoAnn Tennett of Holly Hill, Fla.; two sisters, Louise Smith of Maurertown and Jo Grim of Berryville; eight grandchildren a great-granddaughter.
Maddox Funeral Home in Front Royal was in charge of the arrangements.
