Rappahannock County 4Her Ben Rupchis made a big decision last summer. The 2001 CMR Farm Fair was scheduled for the same time as the American Dairy Goat Association National Show.
Ben had only been raising and showing dairy goats for three years. It would be a bit premature to go to the National Show in 2001, but the show was being held in West Springfield, Mass. Ben thought he had a chance of convincing his family to take him 500 miles to Massachusetts.
The 2002 National Show was slated for Pueblo, Colo, and Ben was sure he and his goats would not be going on a 1600-mile road trip. So Ben decided to skip the Farm Fair and go to Nationals. It was a good choice.
