“Full accreditation for both schools, preparation and submission of the International Baccalaureate application, and Effective Schools implementation” are the three administrative annual goals for this school year, Superintendent Dr. David Gangel told the School Board at its August meeting. “They are all interrelated-in order to move the school system forward,” he continued.” He said that accreditation has to become routine, “and this is the year to do it.”
Dr. Gangel referred too to a memo to the School Board from former Assistant Superintendent Mary Ann Biggs, who is assisting Rappahannock County Public Schools (RCPS) in launching the International Baccalaureate (IB) program. He noted that Mrs. Biggs said that the process of applying for the program is more than just Filling out an application form-that it is a process that “takes many steps and requires a school system to focus clearly on curriculum and to do some analysis and preparation.” Dr. Gangel said that he is looking forward to the application that will be “a catalyst for high expectations.” He anticipates completing the IB application by the end of the year.
In his report to the School Board Dr. Gangel also noted progress on six-year plan development.
