Ms. Markee provided School Board members with the set of “measurable” goals for the year, and asked that they review and endorse them.
Assistant Superintendent Jack Raines reported that ad teacher positions have been filled. He had reported the same to the Board1 ofSupervisors at their August meeting, but openings developed subsequently, but are now filled. ;

Curriculum and Instruction, * Richard Smith, reported that he had met with ftter Smith of the Best Practices Center and had acquired software ti> perform SOL test data disag: gregation that ! has been designed to aid in improving SOL test performance. He is also in the process of developing goals to improve strident achievement, and wifl work with instructional ajifl department teams to move that process forward.
Mr. Smith also said thqft he is investigating the costeffectiveness pf purchasing curricula in lieu of in-house development, and will move quickly on development of plans for remediation recovery and summer school. *
