ily and friends, including their four children, Linda (49), Jackie (48), Frank Baylus II (47) and Vickie (42), their spouses, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
At the cake cutting, Mr. and Mrs. Whorton gave testimonials of their love for each other over their 50 years of marriage. They both agreed that the one incident that changed the course of their marriage and made it the success it is today, was a night in January of 1954 when they both gave their hearts and lives to Jesus Christ and became dedicated Christians.
Founding members of The Centreville Assembly of God Church on Lee Highway, they are still active participants today. For years, one of their regular activities has been visiting and holding services for the residents at Birmingham Green Retirement Home in Manassas, where they will sing accompanied by Mrs. Whorton on her accordion.
In 1950 Mr. Whorton built the home where he and his wife continue to live today.
Even though they live in one of the fastest growing areas of Fairfax County, they still enjoy the many benefits of nature — deer, fox, squirrel, rabbits, possum and birds — on their two acres.
While their health has prevented them from tending huge gardens like they’ve done in the past, they continue to enjoy life and each other among their blackberry and black raspberry vines along with various kinds of fruit trees.
