My people, all of my people, stood for the rebel cause in the 1860’s. They were of their time, and in their time they believed a foreign army was invading their homeland. Not a one of them owned slaves. Most opposed slavery. But they all contributed to the Southern cause.
And that Southern army fought with unsurpassed valor against overwhelming odds for four bloody years. When that war ended, and I believe that it ended in the right way for America, there was little left to Dixie. No one, black or white, had anything left. But pride.
So, my friend, if you wonder how' some of us can still be moved by their struggle, try to understand. And don't judge us with the prejudice of the politically correct. Don’t assume when you see a rebel flag that it is some divisive display of bigotry. Sure, some idiots desecrate the flag in their racist rituals. They also use Old Glory and the Christian Cross for those purposes.
