detector dog. On his very first break-in day at an international airport, Angus alerted to several passengers on a flight that the Outbound Team was interviewing. His discovery resulted in a seizure of more than $24,000 and $100,000 in forced currency or monetary instrument reports (CMIRs).
Since his phenomenal first day on the job, Angus has alerted to more than $600,000 in forced CMIRs, and has helped in five additional seizures totaling almost $112,000. Not bad for a dog that is still completing his break-in period. “Angus is a joy to work with, and very smart. If he could drive the van,” jokes the CEO “I’d probably be out of a job!”
Angus earned his name by being in the “A” litter. All puppies in the program are named after the first letter of the litter in which they are born. In fact, the foster family that had Angus now has a puppy from the “E” litter, named Ethan.
Angus has since alerted to more than 2.1 million dollars and continues to love his job.
Ethan left home in February, started classes and then graduated in July 2001. Felix will begin classes in August 2001.
