In this fast pace we all live in today we often do not take the time to enjoy the beauty of the landscape that we see and enjoy as we drive through our beautiful county- tyThere
are so many different wild flowers from May until frost. A wild flower book is needed to identify many of them.
As I was growing up the flowers were a great source of entertainment. I would always pick the delicate flowers and bring them to my mother. She would proudly display them on the table or in the window. Our vases were anything from a pretty bottle to a common ordinary glass or a pretty jar.
Spring always brought the pretty violets. With these we would hook their heads together and pull to see who lost their violet first. There were many violets and this game went on for quite awhile.
We played outside almost all day because there was no television or air conditioning, and we found many ways to pass the time.
When the buttercups were blooming, we would pick the flowers and hold them close under each others chin. If the chin reflected the yellow in the buttercup, it meant you liked butter. It didn’t matter that it always showed we like butter, it gave us something to do.
The daisies would determine if our current friend “loved me” or “loved me not” by pulling off the pedals. The last pedal was the final say.
When we would take walks, there were many different flowers. The one I really enjoyed was the jewel weed. This one produced a
