Phil Irwin commented that “we have a pretty good (trash) program in Rappahannock, and he asked Mr. McCarthy if there was a notable decrease in landfill volumes since the Huntly and Scrabble unsecured dumpsters were closed. Mr. McCarthy said that the past year’s volume was down 10 percent and, in addition, he explained that trash volume annual growth had been averaging four percent for the three previous years as well, so that the total reduction for the year since the dumpster sites had been closed is nearly 14 percent. This reduction is attributable to the elimination of non-County trash from the system.
