On June 23, Frank Baylus Whorton, age 76, and Lois Carolyn Utz Whorton, 69, were honored at a luncheon rfeception given by their children and families in celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary. They were married by the Rev. Sliger in his home at Flint Hill on June 23, 1951. „■ Mr. Whorton is a native of Rappahannock County and served in the Navy during World War II aboard the destroyer, USS McDermut ^577). He worked as a carpenter and is a member of the Washington DC Carpenter’s Union Local 1590 where he retired in 1988 after 39 active years.
Mrs. Whorton is also a native of Rappahannock jCounty and graduated from Washington High School in ,1950. Known far and wide as a fabulous country cook, Mrs. Thorton has worked in the home as a homemaker raising their four children, as well as babysitting full time for their .grandchildren and numerous other children in the area, t The reception in their honor was held at Manassas Assembly of God and festivilies included a surprise limo jide to the reception for Mr. ^nd Mrs. Whorton by a nephew, a video and musical presentation of old family ’ photos, a much loved song, “I Couldn’t Have Made This Journey Without You” sung by
