Ben decided to enter just two milking does and two doe kids in the breed classes at the National Show. He also entered the youth events: showmanship, the team fitting contest, and judging and management.
On Friday, July 27 at 7 p.m., everything was loaded in the truck and trailer and Ben left Sperryville for the 11 hour trip to Nationals. By the end of the day Saturday, 350 exhibitors and over 1000 goats from 48 states and Canada had arrived in West Springfield.
The youth events were held on Sunday and Ben went unplaced in showmanship. He had a great time in the team fitting contest competing on a team with two youth from Florida and young lady from Connecticut. (Each team of four youth was given a dirty goat kid and 30 minutes to clean, clip and spit polish the goat kid. Teams were judged on organization,
