Independent Study

New for 2001-2002 is our Independent Study Program, , which will provide students with opportunities to work with an adult mentor on a project that is of interest to the student and that meets the rigorous criteria of in-depth study. A meeting of interested students and their parents will be held on Aug. 15 in Room One of the High School. All members of the community are invited to attend this meeting and hear about this exciting opportunity.

Writing Across

the Curriculum

Another new initiative for the upcoming school year is a “Writing Across the Curriculum,” which is being developed by Ms. Laurel Van Horn. This program will require students to submit one written project each marking period in a content area other than English.

The work will be graded by the teacher for technical content and then forwarded to the student’s English teacher to be assessed for writing mechanics. At this time, the plan is to rotate
