It has not been a good week for cows in Rappahannock.

Early on the morning of June 8, there was an attempted armed robbery of the Epicurious Cow (ECOW), a specialty grocery store and deli located at the intersection of U. S. 211 and Route 729 (Richmond Road.)

According to the report filed by the Rappahannock Sheriff’s Office, a female employee of ECOW was working in the store at about 6:50 a.m. when an unidentified woman entered the premises.

The woman approached the employee, and displaying a box-cutting knife, grabbed her, demanding money.

The employee told her assailant that she had no money, and a struggle ensued. “Physically, they were about an even match, except for the knife,” noted Sheriff Larry Sherertz.

During the pushing and shoving, the employee received a laceration on her hand.
