He cited some ot the accomplishments made here “with the help of staff and community, the School Board and the Board of Supervisors”: teacher salaries rising from near the bottom to “mid-range” in the State; the addition of many new programs; the improvement of facilities; and approaching high standards. Dt. Gangel added that preliminary results just received indicate that high school SOL scores were high enough this year to warrant full accreditation.
Dr. Gangel will accept the position of Superintendent of Schools in Amelia County, effective July 1 of this year. He said however, that he will retain his family-built home in Rappahannock County so that he and Mrs. Gangel can visit their children, grandchildren and friends on weekends.
