It’s a funny month, June; one part April filled with promise, one part jaded August. At the beginning of the month, the rows in the garden seemed too far apart. The beans and tomatoes, barely more than seedlings, stared back at me as if to say, “OK. So where’s the heat?” By the 15’th, they’ve hit their stride, complaining that the weeds are cramping their style, and by the end of the month the tomatoes will be chest high and the beans will turn a slightly yellowed leaf to hohum me as I pick the first of their fruit.
