Your editorial of Sept. 26
stating that the paper received only two letters from the readefs regarding your coverage of the Fournier case leads the readers to believe that there was not a great deal of response to the article.
Unfortunately the Rappahannock County Education Association’s letter arrived at your office on Monday at 4 p.m., after the noon deadline. However, it would seem that the two could have easily been changed to three prior to going to press especially since RCEA’s letter represents the voice of 80 members of our educational community.
Nevertheless, neither our letter nor the letters of Mr. Nieters and Mr. Makela was critical of the News covering the case. The point of the criticism was the manner in which you chose to headline the story and link it to an innocent member of our community. Dragging Mrs. Fournier through the mud does not serve to protect our community’s children as your condescending editorial suggests.
