Since the editors appear to
remain ignorant of the point made by so many citizens regarding their coverage of the Robert Fournier case, I will explain it clearly. Your readers do not want yellow journalism.
No one wants the Rappahannock News to omit relevant stores. No one has even remotely suggested such an absurd idea. The Fournier story is relevant and should be included in the newspaper. Objections abounded as a result of the inappropriate headline and focus of the story.
It is your obligation to write with professionalism and integrity. Sensationalizing should be reserved for the supermarket tabloids. Your shortsighted editorial was a weak attempt at deflecting and obscuring criticism and has served only to confirm that you were in the wrong.
