Some weeks are harder to write about than others. On the face of it, it was a normal week for the students and teaching staff at Wakefield Country Day School. The students showed up, the teachers gave out tests, lunch was served every day. The days flew by, and suddenly, it was the weekend again.
Soccer and volleyball games were played; we lost some, won others. The Student Government held elections, and the Annual Golf Ibumament was played in between raindrops for the third year in a row.
Perhaps it’s the small things that happen without fanfare that are different. Perhaps those things should get more recognition, instead of becoming the filler in our lives.
There were several days of steady rain that “greened4 our lawns and gave our fall flowers a fighting chance. Due to drought conditions, we can’t water, so it’s been sad to see our landscaping dry up. Mrs. Helen Corbin and I have been collecting half-empty bottles of water; yon know, the ones that the kids don’t finish at lunch. We’ve used these to water both inside and outside plants. My mother catches the water from her shower in a bucket, as she waits for the shower to warm up.
