New Rappahannock Magistrates Frances Eldred and Bob Ingle, both of Washington were recently sworn into office by Rappahannock Circuit Court Deputy Eva Long Smith. They succeed Charlotte Nichols of Flint Hill and Sarah Latham of Amissville, both of whom resigned from the position.
Panorama Realty in Sperryville was advertising a two-story cabin and 5.2 acres for $27,500 and a three bedroom frame home located on five open acres with stream and state road frontage for $40,000.

Former Rappahannock resident and famous musician John Jackson and friends played for the crowds at the Sperryville Apple Festival this past weekend. The festival, one of the biggest thus far, drew over 10,000 people.
Bears took up a large part of the time of the Board of Supervisors at Monday’s meeting. Game Warden Jim Bankston came to the meeting to discuss the large number of complaints about bears this year. He said that 24 bears had been trapped in the county this year and relocated to other parts of the state. The supervisors had asked him to come because of the large number of complaints they have received from people complaining about bears damaging crops.
Scott, Justin and Katie Updike, members of the Rappahannock 4-H Livestock Club, entered lambs and swine at the Virginia State Fair in Richmond Oct. 3 and 4. All three walked away with awards. Katie won the Grand Champion Market Hog and received a 4-H Scholarship as part of her award. In the Single Market Lamb category Justin received two blues, Katie one blue and Scott one blue. In the Pair of Market Lambs category, they each received a blue ribbon.
