Very different views of the landscape by two Virginia artists go on display Oct. 4 and will continue through Oct. 27 at The Middle Street Gallery in Washington.
Reprising their successful show two years ago at the gallery, Emily Kinnier of Richmond and Tucker Hill of Madison County again present their contrasting styles in 25 new works in monotype, monoprint, and mixed media.
An artists’ reception will be held on Sunday, Oct. 6 from 2 to 6 p.m.
Ms. Kinnier uses her mastery of color to form vivid images that veer from expressionistic scenes of tree-lined fields expressed in collage and oil pastel to explosions of color through the monoprint process as light pours from the sky over mountains and woods.
Beginning in 1953, Ms. Kinnier studied at the famed Art Students League in New York City under some of America’s most renown post-World War II artists/teachers, including the masters of color,
