The Rappahannock Lady Panther varsity volleyball team is a champion to its fans even though it did not bring home the state title at the championship game on Saturday.
The feet that the Lady Panthers made it to the state finals is a major accomplishment. It is the first time a team has reached this point in Rappahannock volleyball history.
The Lady Panthers took the court in the Single A State Championship game on March 1 at Broadway High School against the Rye Cove High School Eagles from Southwest Virginia .
The Panthers’ fens were set to cheer for their team, but the Rye Cove fans were phenomenal. With painted bodies and faces they never stopped .cheering or yelling throughout both matches. It seemed like a college basketball game.
The first game was a nail biter. The two teams traded side-outs with neither team dominating. Rye Cove scored the first point of the game, with Rapp coming right back with a service ace from Rachel Sharp. Rye Cove got the serve back and they were ahead 5-1.
