CALL FOR A MASS MEETING

RAPPAHANNOCK COUNTY REPUBLICANS

I, Walter Longyear, Chairman of the Rappahannock County Republican Committee, do hereby call a Mass Meeting of the Rappahannock/County Republican Party, to be held on Tuesday, March 18, 2003, beginning at 7:00 p.m. at the Rappahannock County Courthouse.

The purpose of the mass meeting is to elect up to 65 (sixty-five) delegates and 65 (sixty-five) alternates to the 26th District State Senatorial District Convention to be held on Saturday, May 17, 2003 in the Broadway High School Gymnasium, Broadway, VA or at its alternate site, starting at 10:00 a.m. local time on Saturday, May 17, 2003 for the purposes of nominating a Republican Candidate for the 26th State Senate District in the November general election; and for the transaction of such other business as may properly come before the Mass Meeting.

All legal and qualified voters of Rappahannock County, under the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia regardless of race, religion, national origin or sex, who are in accord with the principles of the Republican Party and who, if requested, express in open meeting either orally or in writing as may be required, their intent4ent to support all of its nominees for public office in the ensuing election, may participate as members of the Republican Party of Virginia in its Mass Meeting, party canvasses, conventions or primaries encompassing their respective election districts.

Anyone desiring to become a delegate is required to send such notice in writing (include your name, address and phone number) to Walter Longyear, PO Box 124, 636 Mt. Salem Ave., Washington, VA 22747-0124. Such notice must be received no later than 5:00 p.m. o March 17, 2003.

There is no regfetration fee for the Mass Meeting. A voluntary fee of $5.00 is requested of each delegate and alternate delegate to the Convention. Political contributions are not tax-deductible.

Each candidate for the Republican nomination for Sate Senate must state his or her intention to seek the nomination by filing a written statement with the 26th District Chairman, Todd Gilbert, 118 West Court Street,Woodstock, VA 22664 and must be received not later than 5:00 p.m. on April 11th, 2003. Postmarks will not govern. There will be no nominations from the floor unless no candidate has pre-filed. Candidates must include a $500 filing fee payable to the 26th Senate District Republican Committee.
