At the risk of angering Mommie Nature and having her dump another two feet of snow on us for my hubris. I'd like to state quietly that I think spring is here.
Forget about this solstice and equinox stuff, we Virginians know that winter starts on Dec. 1. and spring on March 1.
I go by the weather, which usually coincides with these dates, and choose to ignore the length of the days. Maybe that's why I'm a writer and not a scientist.
Of course, this year is not the year to set up your seasonal calendar by. Where was that false spring we usually get in February1 Instead we got two feet of snow and a lot of cold weather from November until well into March.
