Dog food, supplies needed
Cadette Girl Scout Troop #590 is sponsoring a drive for the Rappahannock Animal Welfare League (RAWL). It needs canned dog food (no dried), dog bones, chew toys, towels, shampoo, leashes and collars. The scouts request that supplies for dogs be placed in the RAWL boxes at the Rappahannock Farmers’ Coop. Hackley's Store, Horse & Hound and Settle's Grocery. Envelopes are available at these sites for monetary donations.
Hearthstone’s auction
Hearthstone School s annual Hootenanny will become a Hoot ‘n Auction on April 12 at 6:30 p.m. at the Washington fire hall, with a^between-set auction of high quality goods and services joining the musical performances. A highlight will be a bachelor auction of some of Rappahannock's most eligible men. Persons who have items and services to donate, and interested bachelors, should call the school at 987-9212. or Diane Bardwell at 987-8553. Suggested donation will be $7 at the door.
Youth Theatre workshops
The Rainbow Bridge Youth Theatre is offering a new series of after-school drama classes for ages 6-12 on Thursdays beginning March 20 at the Rappahannock High School auditorium. The six-week class culminates in a performance for family and friends using props and costumes. For more information, call Jean Elizabeth 987-9727.
Protecting counts waters
RappFLOW will present a program on air and water quality in the Shenandoah National Park and how it affects Rappahannock County on April 12 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at the Old SperryviHe Schoolhouse (formerly Faith Mountain Company) in SperryviHe. Much of the water that flows in Rappahannock County streams comes from headwaters in the Shenandoah National Park. Join other citizens at this first workshop sponsored by RLEP, Piedmont Environmental Council, SperryviHe Gateway Project, Shenandoah National Park and others.
Umpire Clinic on March 30
There will be an Umpire Clinic on Sunday, March 30 for the Piedmont Softball Association and the Rappahannock Athletic Association (baseball) at 3 p.m. at Bill Payne’s Auction Gallery on Route 211 in Amissville. Chili Bowl Tournament
The Piedmont Softball Association invites everyone to its first Chili Bowl Tournament on Saturday, March 22 from 1 -5 p.m. at the Bill Payne Auction Gallery off Route 211 in Amissville. This is an all-you-care-to-eat chili test with each person judging which pot of chili is the best. Cost is $5 per person; children under five are free.
