Once again, Rappahannock County students deserve congratulations for the awards they garnered at the Piedmont Regional Science Fair held at Piedmont Virginia Community College in Charlottesville on March 6.
In the senior division, Megan Payne received first place honors in zoology with her project, "Just Horsin’ Around.” She was recognized with a certificate and a plaque.
Payne advances to the Virginia State Science Fair to be held at Randolph Macon College in Ashland on April 5. In addition, 10th grader Patrick Treanor received Honorable Mention in Physics for his project, “The Fight for Flight.”
In the junior division, RCES students came home with a total of eight awards. Osha Kondori earned an Honorable Mention in Inorganic Chemistry for her project, “A Big Bowl of Iron.”
Brian Ross received an Honorable Mention in Microbiology, Medicine, and Invertebrates for his project, “Worms to Death.” Ross also won a First Place Army Certificate.
In the same division, Jonathan Butler was awarded Second Place for his project, “Till Death Do Us Part.”
Zack Wayland’s project, “Rolling, Rolling, Rolling,” received Third Place
