Twenty-four Rappahannock County candidates have filed for seats in the November election, according to the Registrar's Office.
Of this number, eight are incumbents with no one running against them, according to assistant registrar Pam LeHew.
The last day for candidates to qualify was Tuesday by 7 p.m.
The races with the most con-' tenders are the three running for Rappahannock County Sheriff and three for the Jackson seat on the Board of Supervisors.
The three contenders vying for sheriff are incumbent Larry Sherertz, former Secret Service officer Steve Butler of Boston and former deputy sheriff Todd Brown of Chester Gap.
The three seeking the Jackson seat on the Board of Supervisors are Butch Zindel, J. Jack Atkins and incumbent Ron Frazier.
In other races, Yogi Bear is challenging incumbent Bryant Lee for the Hampton seat on the Board of Supervisors.
In the School Board race, Meredith Gorfein and Jim Oyster are running for the Hampton seat vacated by Douglas Baumgardner; Ron Makela is running against incumbent John Wesley Mills for the Jackson seat; and Sharon Kilpatrick and Ken Marlor are vying for the Stonewall-Hawthorae seat.
Meanwhile, for director of Soil and Water, John Clifford Miller III and Monira K. Rifaat are running for that seat.
The incumbents running alone in various races are: County Attorney Peter Luke, Treasurer Frances Foster and Commissioner of Revenue Beverly Atkins; Board of Supervisors Chairman Charles K. "Pete" Estes, Supervisor Bob Anderson (Stonewall-Hawthorae District) and Supervisor Roger Welch (Wakefield District).
For School Board seats, no one is running against Aline Johnson (Piedmont District) and Rosa Crocker (Wakefield District).
