On June 7, Nikki Bowers and her mother, Connie Thomas, took the Washington Baptist Church’s bus trip to Amish Country, Pa., and saw the biblical production of “Daniel” at The Sight and Sound Theatre.
The performance included live horses and mechanical lions.
Connie thought it was an awesome and spiritually moving play.
After the play, the group went to a local family-style restaurant where the food was served in bowls and passed around.
Mrs. Rosanna Reed of Castleton was one of among 60,000 participants who ran in the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation National Race for the Cure held in Washington, D.C., on June 7.
This event was the largest of the 112 fundraising races sponsored by the Dallas-based foundation.
Despite the pouring rain, dedicated fundraisers ventured out to run and walk.
More than $2 million was raised for breast cancer awareness, research and testing.
Mrs. Reed was on the Northern Virginia Postal Employees Team: “We Deliver the Cure.”
Happy Birthday to Jacob Thomas, who turned one year old on June 3.
