Besides being a family doctor to many, Dr. Krebser became a highly visible public official in his 21 years of service on the county Planning Commission, including a term as chairman.
He was an outspoken champion of protecting the scenic beauty and open spaces of Rappahannock.
“He was always veiy active, very decisive in his opinions,” recalled Sharon Pierce,who served 10 years with him on the commission. “He truly had the interests of the county at heart, as he saw them.”
Butch Zindel, who also served as a planner, said the commission “got much more professional and kept in tune with the comprehensive plan and the zoning ordinances,” thanks to Dr. Krebser's influence and willingness to tackle tough issues.
