There were a lot of proud parents and students in the Rappahannock County High School auditorium last Wednesday night for the sixth annual Academic Awards Reception.
Eighty students, grades eight through 12, received awards for academic excellence from their teachers. The awards go not only to those with high grade point averages, but also to students who have demonstrated a willingness to give their all as they work toward academic excellence.
Headwaters, the Rappahannock County Public Education Foundation, organizes and funds the event each year.
The first two awards were presented by interim school superintendent Helen Williams, who is the school administration representative to Headwaters. Mitsy Robinson received the Jeff MacNelly Art award, which is a cash award for artistic achievement.
