a simple lunchtime gathering into a philosophy lesson, and perhaps, no less importantly, he was a man who could appreciate and tell a great joke.
His death marks the loss of a towering figure in our community. In his years of community service, Werner was someone who always stood firmly for fairness, decency, compassion, and doing the right thing.
His passion for education, and tireless dedication to preserving the great natural beauty of our Rappahannock countryside for future generations to enjoy, are perhaps his most lasting legacies to our county. He will not be easily replaced.
I cherished his friendship and will miss him greatly.
