The 2000 U.S. census, which included Rappahannock County, indicates that 63.7 percent of county residents age 15 years or older are married and living with their spouse.
This is significantly higher than the percentage for the state of Virginia as a whole. In Virginia, only 55.7 percent of adults are married and living with their spouse. This is also higher than any of the surrounding counties (Culpeper, 59.5 percent; Fauquier, 62.0 percent; Madison, 61.9 percent; Page, 58.7 percent; Warren, 57.8 percent).
