Having profited from real estate investments in fast-grow'ing McLean, he purchased a 700-acre farm near Huntly and began raising cattle there. He built and opened the Rappahannock Medical Center in the Town of Washington, where he practiced with a partner, Dr. Jerry Martin.
“We had a great relationship for 25 years,” said Dr. Martin from LTtah where he was on a biking trip in the mountains with his son. “He was always honest and fair. I had all the respect in the world for him.”
A second marriage, to Jane Siwy, produced a daughter Katherine and ended in divorce.
As a family physician, he was legendary for his fierce opposition to smoking and obesity. “He was very thorough, and very bhint," recalled Peter Krame/rwho was also one of his
