A proposal for “Gardens at Washington Courthouse,” an idea to use private funds to create a small park around the county’s court and government offices, appeared to find approval last week among civic and government leaders.
The proposal was unveiled by the Rappahannock League for Environmental Protection at a tea March 31 at the Trinity Episcopal Church in Washington for a group of service club leaders and members of Washington’s town government.
Bob Lander, president of the RLEP, said the idea grew out of a desire by the executive board late last year for the league to do something “tangible” for the county.
