The 10year-old galloped to open his “94 account with a five length schore at the rescheduled Rappahannock races held April 3. Rappahannock students won a first place, two second places, a couple of special awards and a slew of honorable mentions at the Piedmont Regional Science Fair in Charlottesville last Tuesday. Jim Clark got first place in computer science and an Army award, the Best of Army Award for his project “The Traveling Salesman Problem: Modeling Likely Human Problem Solving Performance Phase H. Also in the senior division Daniel Dodson won second place in Zoology for his project “Which type of food is best for egg production?” Stephen Bailey received second place in Behavioral and Social Sciences for his project “Perceptions of Color” also in the senior division. Talk of the Tbwn, the new gift and accessories store at the comer of Gay and Jett streets in Washington, opened officially, last Saturday, but shopkeepers Mary McCabe and daughter Elaine Kramer held a preview opening, complete with plenty of food and beverages on Friday evening. Mrs. McCabe and Mrs. Kramer first seriously discussed opening a store together last October, shortly after Elaine’s marriage to local cabinet maker Peter Kramer.
