an 11-year-old boy down from Old Rag Mountain in the dark. The child had spent seven hours crouched on the crest of the mountain after getting separated from a school group.
The youngster had stayed calm and told Swett that he didn’t think he’d be rescued until dawn, but in the dark he was dangerously close to the edge of the cliff.
Corning down the 3,291 foot mountain, Swett let the boy use his flashlight. “He loved that flashlight, but I told I needed for other rescues.”
