It’s Spring, time for the
annual trash pickup along county roads. Neighborhood groups are organizing to clean up after the litterers.
In Sperryville, the citizens of Jenkins Hollow have adopted the stretch of Route 522 from the village to the F.T. Valley Road (Route 231).
The crew will meet at the Smokehouse Winery at 8:30 a.m. on April 10. After a cup of coffee, we will head out to “our” road. Wear bright colors; orange bags will be provided. For directions or more information, call John Hallberg, 987-3194.
John and I have a bet. I say more litterers in the county prefer Coors and Marlboros; he says they prefer Bud and Winstons. What do you think?
We hope neighbors and businesses will join together to clean up the eastern segment of Route 522, and also U. S. 211 toward the Park.
Get out and check the roadside in your neighborhood. Award a crew prize for the most unusual litter found. Make a neighborhood sculpture out of found objects.
